Getting back to running
Since getting back to NYC, and knowing we will be here for a while, I decided it was time to join a gym again. I haven’t belonged regularly to a gym since I last lived in New York. In Boston, we had a gym in our apartment building and prior to that I bounced through a few gyms but never found a great fit. In Jersey City we again has a gym in our building and that worked for then. But, I...
Me: Hi, I'd like to make an appointment for a cleaning...I was a patient about 3 years ago when I last lived in NYC
Receptionist: Who was your dentist?
Me: Humm, I don't even know. I only saw them once.
Receptionist: Let me look it up...oh Dr Levine
Me: Great, I need a weekend appointment.
Receptionist: Well, Dr. Levine won't be in on weekends until March
Me: Okay then, can I just see another dentist who will be in a bit sooner than that?
Receptionist: Ohhhhhhhhh. No. Switching dentists causes interoffice turmoil
Me: Yes, well, seeing as I don't even remember Dr. Levine...we hadn't really bonded and I really need a cleaning so there must be some solution?
Receptionist: Let me take your number...Dr. Levine's assistant will call you back.
I'm not seeing this turn out well...I'll keep you all updated

One of our best friends is on the verge of buying a house and moving...
Nanny: Why doesn't Ben use a sippy cup?
Me: Because the doctor said not to bother...he will stay on a bottle for a while and then go straight to a real cup
Nanny: But what if you get stuck out somewhere and don't have a bottle and he needs to take the sippy cup?
Me: Why would I have a sippy cup but not a bottle if he doesn't use a sippy cup?
Nanny: I'm going to teach him how to use a sippy cup.
Me: Um. Okay.
