Our trip out to Idaho did not go off without a hitch as I had been desperately hoping. We rose at the crack of down to shower and were bleary eyed moving around the apartment, trying not to wake Ben until the absolute last second. Josh remembered that if you check in online, luggage is cheaper so at 630a I sat down at the computer, only to find we have been re-booked already onto a later flight that day. No explanation, just an update with our new itinerary. It had re-booked the whole way through so included the Minneapolis to Spokane leg. We looked at each other, sighed that we had been up for an hour already, knew we couldn’t really go back to sleep because Ben would be up soon and kinda just dozed on the couch for a few minutes.
Approximately 14 seconds later, Ben woke up ready for the day! We hung out for a bit then headed off to the airport. This is where it starts to go downhill. Upon checking in, we find our flight has been pushed back again. We head off to the gate to see the tail end of another flight to Minneapolis finishing up the boarding process. Fabulous. I track down a gate agent who informs me, that flight was full, and unfortunately, because of our flight time being pushed back again, we would miss our connecting flight into Spokane. The only other flight for the day was leaving at 10p which would get us in at 2a. Then we still had an almost 3 hour drive. And this is all west coast time. And its currently 11a east coast time when they are telling me this. Um, long day much? I pointed out, that wouldn’t work and the gate agent was surprisingly accommodating in letting us know we could spend the night in Minneapolis and take the first flight out in the am onto Spokane. So yes, at 11a we already knew this was going to be a two day trip. Even more awesome.
